About this Seminar

The annual budget including proposals will be laid before the Parliament in India during the month of February. It would useful to keep an eye on any changes which are brought up by Government that would potentially impact family wealth. The recent Paradise papers leaks have accelerated the Tax and Enforcement Directorates to pursue cases of possible evasion of Income Tax as well as violations under exchange control regulations.
The seminar is themed around the amendments both on regulatory and legislative landscape by the Indian government and the aggressive pursuit of enforcement agencies.

Mr. Aseem Chawla  – Partner, Phoenix Legal

Aseem Chawla is India Bar Council member, Fellow Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, STEP member and is certificate holder of the Tax Policy program from Harvard Kennedy School.
Aseem’s experience includes advising large Indian and multinational corporate houses on tax matters, including international tax, inbound & outbound investment structuring & cross-border tax issues, and advising families on estate planning, inheritance & governance matters. 
Aseem has been consistently adjudged over the years, as one of the leading tax experts in the Asia Pacific Region by Chambers and Partners, Who’s Who Legal, Expert Guides, Legal 500, Asialaw Leading Lawyers, etc.  He has also been identified among 40 leading Indian lawyers under 45.  Aseem was featured in The Week magazine’s special coverage on young lawyers and has also been bestowed award of Young Achiever lawyer. His name finds mention in “100 Legal Luminaries of India” published by Lexis Nexis. He has several authorships to his credit.  
Aseem is actively involved in leadership capacity at various professional bodies & business chambers, and is regularly invited to various domestic & international fora and industries chambers.  His views are often sought on contemporary tax and policy matters by the Print and Electronic media.
